We were in Cheyenne, Wyoming last Monday. Unfortunately for us, even though the state capitol is nearing the end of their three year renovation, this was the most we could see of it
There was an exhibit on the capitol at the state museum so we went there instead
And saw one of these cool cowboy boots (see S in the right side of the photo? That is how big these are)
They are all over Cheyenne, kind of like Bucky in Madison, Wisconsin
The next best part of seeing the capitol was finding this off the side of the freeway, 20 miles west of Cheyenne:
It is the cupola from the capitol, notice the plaque that says "Dome on the Range"
On our drive to Evanston, we crossed the Continental Divide twice!
We stayed in Evanston overnight and headed to Utah on Tuesday
I was REALLY wondering if the GPS map notification would show Brigham Young or perhaps a skier, but it was a train conductor (Transcontinental Railroad met in Utah)
We were back in Utah to head to a family reunion, which was over the weekend. On Thursday we headed to Bear Lake (Garden City, Utah) via Evanston and saw this on the drive!
We stopped in Evanston, Wyoming because we had forgotten to do something there
The McDonald's there has saddles for seats in the kid's play area! Both J and S were excited, even if they are maybe a little too "old" to be in the play area (at least too big to play in the play structure, that's for sure!)
Then we headed back into Utah--blurry picture as we zipped past in the dusk
Bear Lake is beautiful and we even saw some mule deer one evening
We were in Garden City for a reunion for the weekend and attended the Garden City 1st Ward, Paris Idaho Stake
It will be a slow and quiet week, we are taking a week off from traveling to stay in Garden City and rest up. We've had colds here and there and since we were on a tight deadline to get back for the reunion, didn't have time to stop and rest up before traveling on to the next place. We will stop in and see family once more before heading out on our next part of the journey!
