Monday we were in the Preston, Idaho area and stopped by to see a few things. We stopped first to see the Oneida Stake Academy--same vintage as Brigham Young Academy (which is now, as an entity, BYU, but the original building is now the Provo Library).
It is undergoing renovations.
We also stopped at the Whitney Cemetery to see the grave of Ezra Taft Benson. Of all the church presidents, only Ezra Taft Benson and Joseph Smith are not buried in Salt Lake City. Brigham Young is buried in Salt Lake City, in a tiny park between apartment buildings. All the rest of the church presidents are in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
Tuesday we were still in the Utah-Idaho border area, we were driving back and forth sightseeing
We found this cemetery way out in the countryside, in the middle of someone's farm, to find one of the Mr.'s ancestors
We also stopped by one of Cache Valley's hidden secrets: the Pepperidge Farm Factory where you can buy a HUGE bag of goldfish (think: at least 10 of the little bags from the store) for about $2.
This whole cart is full of goldfish
Then we went to the Smithfield Cemetery to find some of the Mr.'s ancestors
And also to the Richmond Cemetery to find more of the Mr.'s ancestors
Wednesday we headed up to Idaho to see the Bear River Massacre Site--although it is in Idaho, soldiers from Fort Douglas, in Utah, were the ones who went there and it is considered one of the worst massacres of all U.S. military/tribal conflicts.
This peaceful area was where the massacre took place
We stayed in Arco, Idaho that night, hard to get pictures when you're driving by!
Thursday we went to Craters of the Moon. We were intending to camp there for a few days, there was no internet/cell signal for the Mr. so we just saw what we could and headed on down the road.
We went to Twin Falls and got to see some BASE jumpers on the I.B. Perrine Bridge over the Snake River
Look carefully, on the bluff left of the middle of the picture--it was the dirt ramp built for Knievel's jump
We headed over to Shoshone Falls after this
So beautiful and even a double rainbow!
Today we attended the Middleton 1st Ward, Middleton Idaho Stake

When we left the cemetery, the farm right there had the backside of the barn painted like this:
(Reminded me of the Kool-Aid guy)

We had seen the real Niagara Falls now to see the "Niagara Falls of the West!"
So beautiful and even a double rainbow!
Our last stop of the day was the Twin Falls temple.
